World's biggest future needs which question the survival of mankind are energy and drinking Water. Addressing these issues from larger scale to smaller scale lot of research is going on in every part of the world. We are, here making such an attempt addressing both the needs. Largest body of water from which we cannot drink is “Sea” and the largest amount of renewable energy we always dream of tapping to full efficiency is “Solar energy”.
Desalination (sea water purification) presently in the world scenario is carried out at a “very larger scale” using thermal energy wasted from industries etc. Also there are well established membrane technologies that do the same. Contributing to the research going on in this issue we make an attempt to improve the present technologies of desalination by combining the present well established technologies of “Multi stage Flashing”,”Multi effect distillation” and “Low temperature thermal ” .
We aim at making a prototype which demonstrates all three at once improving the performance of the plant, at the same time tapping the renewable solar energy which substituent’s the industrial thermal energy.
Acrylic and copper materials were used fabricating the chambers which are connected to condensers and oil free vacuum pumps for obtaining lower pressures. This technology provides a new scope for the future trails.
