India despite being an agricultural country, shows up low figures when it comes to agricultural productivity. This was an issue of concern globally as well, because many of the countries(Illionos in USA,Thailand,Iran) are very good at their agri-based productivity despite having just 6 working months (agriculture being favourable in summers) and lesser number of people (man force).Where as in India, we have 12 months to work on agriculture and most importantly, 54% of the population having agriculture as their occupation. But, unfortunately their contribution to the GDP is just 22%.This is because of low yeild, for which, one of the prime reasons being impropoer usage of fertilizers. In todays scenario, fertilizer is simply broadcasted. This neither ensures that fertilizer is uniformly distributed nor the plant is able to use it efficiently.
So, we the students of IITM put our foot forward and make an attempt to solve this problem. We intend to build a device(machine), which would make the fertilizer feeding more productiveThe fertilizer feeder is an attempt to make a robust machine (that can be handled easily by one person), that feeds the required amount of fertilizer to the plant right at the root depth. To implement this mechanism we are using on either side long tubes called feeders which penetrate into the soil to the required depth and deliver the feed right at the root proximity .To control the feed rate we are quantizing the fertilizer and coupling its discharge rate with the speed of the wheel, so that when the machine is stationary, there is no discharge of fertilizer. In this way the fertilizer can be discharged in a more or less uniform way. What we aim at is--- INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY, what we do is ---PRECISION ENGINEERING.The fertilizer would now be given to a plant just at its root depth (proximity) and just the amount it needs.
shoot up in productivity .
