In manufacturing activity, be it discrete or process, it is important to provide visibility to the shop-floor processes and process parameters to other business processes to use that knowledge to improve overall efficiency and quality of operations and the output. Keeping key people informed with up to the minute information is often the vital ingredient for success, but to date that has often proved very difficult.
We want you to design a set up to demonstrate capturing of some data from a process, mobilizing it, providing visual representation to the mobilized data and finally sending alarm triggered by certain events on this data to the big boss.
Yes, yes, we understand that this is many projects in one. First thing, a process has to be emulated. The parameters to be mobilised have to be sampled and transformed to transportable form. Then comes the actual transferring of this data to another location. Now you have the interesting task of creating an easy to interpret visual representation. And finally, you define the event on which you would like to wake up the big boss.
If you are game to take on the challenge, do not worry about the mundane. We are there to help and even provide material support.
The physical process, hmm, how about a Window Air Conditioner? The parameters to be sampled… not difficult to imagine. We will provide tools to sample & transform. How do you transfer it? Well, use the network that helps you to keep in touch almost anywhere and definitely anytime. We will provide the modems. Visualisation is something that we would leave entirely to you. How to wake up the boss? Sure, you would have figured it out by now. You have the tools already.
Interested in having fun? Just jot down your ideas and shoot across. If you land in the ring, you will have almost one full month to hammer the keys and may be two days of sandboxing just before you present a demo.
This problem statement is given by L&T Infotech highlighting a real life industrial situation. Shortlisted teams will get mentored by the company. Also prize winners may additionally be offered internships at the company.
