Ever wondered what makes a flint stone so versatile, or how Archimedes' weapon managed to overturn a ship with such ease? Or maybe you mull over how to build a working treadmill crane or how to design a portcullis system. Whatever the case maybe, if you have a fascination with technology, irrespective of the time-period it comes from, then this is the place to be. Three days to take a trek through the ten thousand years that man has spent in the pursuit of newer and more advanced technology. The ages that have been decided upon are: Ancient , Middle Ages( Comprising Medieval and Industrial) and Modern Age.The only question is: are you game enough to be there?
Tech Trek is a three day event that will test participants on their engineering skills apart from their ingenuity, inventiveness and logical thinking. Each day will showcase a different period of technology such as Ancient or Medieval technology with the problem statements and questions ensuring participants go through the process of reinventing some of the most influential and interesting devices or systems that mankind has come up with during that period. The three days of the event will be completely independent of each other, with each having a preliminary written round. Teams with the highest scores in the preliminary rounds will then progress to a hands on finals, where they will be given certain materials to build or implement a device made during that period. These models will then be evaluated based on their performance in certain tests. For example, if you were to build a sailing ship, then the main criteria will be the time taken for the ship to cross a certain distance.
The only rule for the prelims is that teams must be composed of a maximum of three people. The specific rules and regulations of the finals will be given on the spot.
