A definite crowd-puller that exposes students to the entertaining and breath-taking technology demonstrations like the Laser and Pyrotechnics shows among others is to be held at the legendary Open Air Theatre. Two such nights on different themes have been planned and promise to be a highlight of Shaastra 2008.
Come October, the scientific community around the world will be drawn like light to a black hole to one place – Shaastra at IIT Madras. Except that this time, this black hole called Shaastra will illuminate the entire space with a spectral glow. Confused?? Read further to know the magnificent levels Shaastra is going to elevate you to.
After a day full of taxing your grey cells with conundrums, questions and connects that beguile you into trudging deeper into the mire of Science or rigorously working to get your robot or your contraption to work effectively, you are bound to be numbingly exhausted. The exhaustion will gradually lead to frustration as your idle mind refuses to leave the problem at hand, leaving you utterly dismayed at your product. We might not have all the answers for your technical problems, but we do have a solution to ease your frozen mind into thinking fresh and innovative – Shaastra Nights.
A new event on the block, it is a crowd puller that’s going to satisfy the engineer within each and every one of us. 'Ah, that the events, workshops and lectures at Shaastra already do, what’s new about Shaastra Nights?' you might ask. Let us illustrate:
He picks up the ball and sets it down at the right place to take the kick. The others arrange themselves in their positions of play as the forward dashes toward the goal posts. The keeper comes forward as the player kicks the ball straight to the forward and the forward shoots it past the rushing keeper to score a goal to loud, raucous cheers from the audience.
A normal football game in progress, isn't it? We at Shaastra 2008 beg to differ. The players are all robots here, robots that can make decisions, coordinate with the other players (robots), sense and communicate with the others on the field. Have we given the secret away and spoilt all the suspense? No, we haven't. The details of the robots to be displayed will be fuzzy to you till the Shaastra Night.
'Robots, what's new?' you might yet ask. That's precisely the reason we named it Shaastra Nights and not Shaastra Night. There's more! Teaching on the board is now a dwindling practice as the computers take precedence by providing us very effective presentation methods. We see images on large flat displays which when changed by a small degree distorts the images and the projector needs to be set before we get undisturbed, normal pixel images. How great would it be if we had projectors that could sense a location to its minutest point physically possible in a jiffy and accordingly project images without any distortion or delay? To your question of how it is possible, we answer in unison: Welcome to Shaastra Nights and behold such amazing spectacles unfold before you.
To elevate your already upped excitement, we have one more show lined up for you. Yes, you heard that right. One more! A show that promises to be the nemesis of the stars and scare them into hiding, we present before you a Laser Show that will encapsulate you all into dazzling lights, sensational pyrotechnics and mind-numbing illusions of space. Rightly so, Shaastra Nights anagrams to Aha! Night’s Star!!
