The army and the DRDO are coming to IIT-M this Shaastra to showcase the indigenously developed state-of -the-art weaponry and defence equipment in our country's arsenal in "Shaastra"- The Defence Exhibition. And this exhibition has been planned on a scale larger than ever before.
13 DRDO labs will come together this Shaastra to showcase their technology including the Battle Field Surveillance Radar, Models of Agni, Prithvi, Brahmos Missiles, Nishant (Unmanned Air vehicle), Lakshya (Pilotless Target Aircraft), Missile Subsystems and many more
And the army's arsenal will incude include the T-72 Tank, Bofors, Indian Field Gun, NBC (Nuclear Biological, Chemical Suit), Explosive Detection Kit.
This would be topped by "Hot Air Ballooning" by the army in our stadium.
In addition to that we have a series of lectures by eminent scientists
1. Dr. A Sivathanu Pillai: Chief Controller, Research & Development, DRDO, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, BrahMos Aerospace,
He will be talking about the BrahMos missile.
2. Dr. P S Krishnan: Director,Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) Banglore,
He will be talking about the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), "Nishant"
3.Dr Talapady Balakrishna Bhat: Head, Armour Design & Development Division at the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad.
He will be talking about Armour Technology
