Every Shaastra, IIT Madras opens its doors to you and lets you take a look at what goes on inside its various departments. As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations this year, Shaastra 2008 continues that tradition with the "Open House".
Open House gives you the opportunity to witness the excellence of IIT Madras, to have a glimpse of some of the most ambitious ongoing projects and research and to see what keeps its world-class faculty, students and researchers busy and motivated.
IIT Madras is much more than just an educational institution; it is a centre of science, technology, management and humanities, which aims to serve the public and further the interests of the nation. At Open House, we show you how each department strives to attain these goals, showcasing each department's success stories and the efforts behind technologies that have made a difference to society, and earned a preeminent position for IITM in the global arena of higher education. At the Open House, IIT Madras' cutting edge technology, state-of-the-art laboratories, and expertise in the various fields of engineering and science, management, humanities, and the social sciences are laid out to the general public, so be sure not to miss it.
