The event is about constructing a small model of a hot air balloon
satisfying a given set of conditions. The balloon will be judged on
various attributes like acceleration and its design.
The intricacies involved in development require research and
experimentation on the part of the participants. And with a bit of each youvarious attributes like acceleration and its design.

a. Number of team members, their names, college roll nos, name of college (the participants may not be from the same college) and contact numbers/email ids. We are restricting the number of teams to 20 (So better hurry up!!!).
b. Materials used to construct the balloon, its height, whether they had tested the balloon and whether or not it works.
The last date for submission of the above is 15th September before 23:59 hours. The 20 teams would be chosen based on the ideas and your updates on the progress of the balloon. These teams will progress to the final round.

Problem Statement
in
Participants are required to come up with a model hot air balloon pertaining to the following conditions. The balloon should be assembled before the event takes place. On the day of the event only testing of each team's balloon will take place :
1. The balloon should not be more than 1.2m in height in the deflated position.
2. Participants must use their own fuel to heat the air inside the canopy of the balloon. The fuel must be placed in a container attached to the balloon i.e participants will not be allowed to keep the fuel separate, thus filling the canopy with enough hot air and then releasing it. Participants are requested not to use liquid fuels as they may leak causing a freak accident.
3. The participants are also required to provide a hook at the bottom of the container, hence where a thread can be tied to make the measurements.
The Criteria for judgment:
The participants would be judged on two independent aspects:
I.
1. The balloon would be judged on how quickly it travels upto a height of 20m. The time for each trial would be recorded.
2. There would be three independent trials for each team, the best of which would be considered for judgment. Between the trials the participants are allowed to make modifications to their balloon as long as they pertain to the problem statement. No further attempts would be granted.
II.
Among the balloons that do manage to fly upto 20m, one of them would be awarded the Most Creative Hot Air Balloon based on its looks and design. It is to be noted that this balloon need not be the fastest. The power to judge this category rests solely on the discretion of the coordinators.
