Do you avoid using others' computers because it may be keylogged? Did you ever get the feeling that you are being watched? Ever wanted to be the one doing the logging and the watching? Found that inherent flaw in the internet yet? Had to access your mailbox urgently though you didn't know the password to your friend's computer? This is the unique opportunity to answer these questions and bring out the 1337 H4X0R in you!

The computer security workshop is about designing secure systems. This involves exposure to some common exploits and network vulnerabilities, how they could be exploited maliciously and most importantly, how you can guard yourself from these unseen evils! This workshop aims at teach participants how to secure themselves against such vulnerabilities using techniques such as firewalls, and basic system administration principles.

A follow-up of this workshop will involve ub3rc00l cracking competitions, where your team tries to secure your computer and break into your opponent's! Physical Access is strictly not allowed.

The workshop will have talks from renowned Security Experts, hands on sessions, demonstrations and a lot more.

1. Do I have to register for this workshop?
No. There is no registration required to attend this workshop.

2. What do I have to know to attend this workshop?
A working knowledge of computers is required. The talks are technical in nature and deal with basics as well as more advanced topics and are meant for a wide variety of participants. It is a great way to kick start your knowledge on computer security as well as gain more insight. There's something for everyone.

3. Will I be able to hack into "secure" government systems after I attend this workshop?
You just might!

Computer_Security_Workshop_Event_Format

The Workshop consists lectures by professionals and renowned hackers on how to make and break computer security.
This will be followed by a competition where your hands-on cracking skills will be tested.
     For the code cracking challenge, the preliminary round will test your knowledge on some basic and commonly used techniques for vulnerability detection and exploits. A select few from the first round will progress to the second and final round where they will actually have to get their hands dirty. This round will involve a some amount of coding and a general knowledge of the tools of the trade.
     The code cracking challenge will be a team-event, with a maximum of 3 members per team.

Hirendra Rathor is a Staff Engineer with Juniper Networks. Juniper Networks is the leader in high-performance networking which offers high-performance network infrastructure that creates a responsive and trusted environment for accelerating the deployment of services and applications over a single network.
Hirendra works on Network Access Control product line - Unified Access Control - which implements open standards, Trusted Computing Group's (TCG) Trusted Network Connect (TNC) in particular. In past he has worked with McAfee Inc. on email security products and has filed a few inventions with US Patent Office and has spent considerable time in computer security industry.
