Control Systems and Mechatronics Workshop
Control Systems and Mechatronics Workshop_Introduction
|
What is a control system? How do you make a closed loop feedback system? How is an inverted pendulum made? What is mechatronics? Do want to know how laser based ranging is used in robotics? |
The hands-on workshop on Mechatronics and Control Systems workshop at Shaastra 2009 is the place
where you will get the answers.

The workshop will have two lectures and a hands on session.
- The Controls Lecture:
This lecture will introduce closed loop control systems and go on to detail the importance and the function of each of their constituents. The lecture will also consist of demonstrations of various control systems under different conditions. - The Mechatronics Lecture:
This lecture will deal with the three main components of a typical mechatronic system, namely the sensors, the actuators and the interfacing methods. The working of various sensors actuators, their application and their limitations will be highlighted . Some interfacing techniques will also be dealt with. - The Hands-On Session:
After the Controls lecture a questionnaire will be handed out to the participants. The coordinators will evaluate the papers and select a limited number of participants to the hands on session. The hands-on session will deal with making a closed loop control system from scratch.
1. Do I have to register for the workshop ?
No, there is no pre-registration for this workshop. The lectures are open to all. However, we will be screening people for the hands-on session. We will be giving out a question sheet after the controls lecture. We will take the answered sheets back, evaluate them and make our selection for the hands-on workshop.
2. What are the pre-requisites to attend this workshop ?
You need to know what control systems means and what mechatronics means. A dictionary of meaning of these terms will suffice, essentially the aim of the workshop is to make you understand these subjects from a very basic level to a level where you can do some hands on work after attending the workshop.
3. Do I get any certificate for attending this workshop ?
No, we will not be giving you any ceritficate for attending this workshop.
