Design is the application of intent - the opposite of happenstance, and an antidote to accident.
— Robert L. Peters
This Shaastra, we present you with the opportunity to get your ideas rolling not just on paper but into the floors of industries. Make sure you have your wits about you as you are challenged with problems posed by industries. Solutions to existing dilemmas are not always solved within state-of-the-art R&D labs. Neither is it solved by the generation of a completely new idea. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective of the unbiased mind. The best engineering innovations are often simply novel ideas that give economically viable solutions with the technologies currently available.
And that’s why we're here. And we hope that’s why you're here too. GE brings us two novel problems very much associated with the real life situations. One ponders upon the issue of the Oil Spills whereas the other deals with the evergreen problem of water spillage from the pipes. We're looking for ideas and concepts that are creative, simple and elegant solutions to seemingly complex engineering problems. This is your chance to make heads turn in the industry with your solutions and get lucky! You might even get to see your design being implemented! Prize money worth INR 70,000 at stake!!
