Shaastra isn't really Shaastra without Contraptions, and you don’t need us to tell you why.

Contraptions turns things on its head in that where most other events seek to simplify a complex problem, Contraptions require you to enthrall the judges and the audience with your ability to convolute the most simplest of actions with an infinite array of steps! All you need is planning, innovation, efficiency in steps and use of materials to stay in the reckoning.

It's the only event of its kind which tests a wide range of skills of the team such as robotics ,disaster proof construction ,the power to innovate and impeccable implementation of ideas completes Shaastra in a way no other event can. Keeping in line with the previous editions, Contraptions this year promises to epitomize excellence and the spirit of engineering, and also take it a step further.

With big cash prizes, industrial connections and great credentials to match, Contraptions has a lot to offer and beckons you to begin the quest for glory. Plus, if you've noticed, it's a one of a kind opportunity to recreate those convoluted machines in the Hanna-Barbara cartoon shorts we've all grown up on!

So why wait? This Shaastra, let Contraptions leave its mark on your imagineering experience!

Q.2 Can I use any ball in the roller coaster module?
Ans. Yes, A team may use any ball that has a diameter greater than 1cm. Also, a maximum of 4 balls may undergo jumps in the roller coaster module

Q.3 Can I run the recursive module while the roller coaster module is going on?
Ans. No, two modules cannot run simultaneously.

Q.4 Can I use the same set of loops again in the roller coaster module?
Ans. No, in the roller coaster module the ball cannot go through a path it has already passed through

Q.5 What will I have to bring? What will be provided by the organizers?
Ans. Only the following items will be made available at the venue
        220V AC supply
        Extension Cord
Teams are requested to bring their own spike busters

Q.6 Should all the modules be present in the contraption or can we choose from the modules?
Ans. All the modules must be present in the contraption but they need not be in the same order as mentioned. But the contraption should end with the Dominoes Module.

Q.7 In the rollercoaster module, once the ball looses all its energy, can we take it back up?
Ans. Yes, you can. But only through intermediate steps.

Q.8 Will there be negative points for exceeding the number of steps?
Ans. Steps exceeding the maximum number of steps will not be counted and there will be negative points for each additional step.

Please note that tricks like loops etc in the roller coaster will have to be done by the ball under gravity. Energy can be imparted to the ball only by a contact force or due to gravity. Pulling the ball through the loops is not allowed.
